‘020608 Tears of Bleu’ – A design concept idea originally created in Japan around 2006 by a British Designer based in Tokyo, Japan (Caius Olowu ). Caius wanted to create a product that was original and true to his beliefs.

Denim is a lifestyle -‘020608 Tears of Bleu’ is a lifestyle brand, created to meet the needs of real denim lovers.

What gives ‘020608 Tears of Bleu’ an edge, is the influence of classic British tailoring, which significantly influences the design and manufacturing process, ensuring the creation of a premium quality, timeless brand of clothing, with authentic denim being the core.

020608 Tears of Bleu consists both Men’s and Women’s Denim in two groups:

* Core line Made in Japan (Clean, Tailored inspired Denim, produced in Okayama Japan, a real design related denim product for both Men’s and Women’s with an hidden sexiness to it’s fits)  - Designed, Styled and Tailored in Japan.

* Black Line Made in USA (Rugged with a distinct classic denim appeal – Denim in it’s premium state, Produced in California, 2 fits Straight and slim Skinny in 8 – 10 washes) – Designed, Styled and Crafted in California.

DENIM WASHES:

*Each wash is hand finished to give a unique, authentic worn look, with a 5 – 10 hour finishing process time.

*Most of the washes started from a 6 months natural worn development process with added external elements to create a unique finish.

*A skilled finisher then copies each original naturally worn finish by hand; the finisher also adds other elements to the process to give each finish a unique look.

*No two washes are 100% alike -

CAIUS OLOWU

DESIGNER PROFILE

Caius Olowu, an internationally renowned and sought after men’s and women’s wear designer with an enviable history in the fashion world, he brings innovation and passion to the Fashion Industry.

He has worked for many of the international fashion labels such as True Religion Brand Jeans USA, True Religion Brand Jeans Japan, John Richmond, New Balance Japan, Diamond Geezer Japan and Levi’s Europe.

Caius began a promising career in Civil Engineering; but decided to give it up to pursue his first love, Fashion. He studied Creative Pattern Cutting and went on to design his first label (Voodoonoire) before achieving a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Menswear Tailoring at the London College of Fashion, while at college he launched the label “Caius Olowu”.

He was invited to serve as an Associate Lecturer from 2002 to 2005 – and was later appointed to the prestigious position of Designer in Residence at the London College of Fashion in 2005.

Caius’ own women’s wear collection sold in the United Kingdom, Paris, USA and Tokyo. He was invited to show as an international guest designer at the British Colombia Fashion Week in Vancouver.
His Women’s wear collection has long been sought after by many celebrities and has been featured in worldwide mainstream fashion magazines – Elle, Vogue, Madam Figaro, Harpers & Queen. His skills and creative talents have been sought after and as been regularly used in the music industry – his collections regularly feature in industry journals, trade publications and newspapers.

2003 & 2005 The Merchant Taylor’s Company of London (Golden Shears) recognized Caius for standards of excellence in the craft skills of tailoring.
His 60s-style It Girl money dress earned national recognition when it featured in the British National Pictures Gallery.

2006 Caius Olowu – In Japan
Having established himself in the UK Market, Caius relocates to Tokyo Japan, where he created overnight success with Diamond Geezer for Island Co. Ltd (Grace Continental Japan), he was credited as the designer who created Island’s first line of menswear with a 60-piece debut collection (Diamond Geezer), which earned national recognition.

2007 He was subsequently headhunted to Senior Designer at True Religion Brand Jeans Apparel.

2008 While as Senior designer Caius Olowu created a marketing proposal to Reintroduce True Religion in to the Japanese market. Caius returned to Japan to lead the Brand’s activities in this new market. One of his key ideas was to create ‘True Religion Exclusives’ for the Japanese’s Market

2010 Caius Olowu’s native wit led to the success of his exclusive specialized products within this new market. Subsequently, True Religion appointed him Head of Merchandise and Key Account manager Japan.
His ‘exclusives’ for the Japanese Market and Managing sales, account for over 50% of True Religions wholesale business in Japan.

2010 Today sees Caius Olowu return focus to his own brand, with the launch of a premium clothing Line with Denim being the starting Core Product 020608 Tears of Bleu.
